How to use the Hourly to Salary Calculator

The Hourly to Salary Calculator is free and runs entirely in your browser — no sign-up, and nothing you enter leaves your device. It opens pre-filled with a realistic example, so you can see how it works before replacing any figure with your own; the results update as you type. Press Calculate to refresh the result panel, or Reset to return to the example.

The inputs it asks for:

  • Convert — choose one — Hourly → Annual Salary, Annual Salary → Hourly.
  • Hourly Rate — a dollar amount.
  • Annual Salary — a dollar amount.
  • Hours per Week — a number.
  • Weeks Worked per Year — a number.

The formula

An annual salary is just an hourly wage multiplied out over a working year (and the reverse divides it back down):

Annual salary = Hourly × Hours per week × Weeks per year
Hourly
your hourly wage
Hours per week
typically 40 for full-time
Weeks per year
52 if paid time off is included; fewer to model unpaid weeks

This is gross pay, before taxes and deductions. To estimate take-home from a salary, see the paycheck tax calculator.

Worked example

Frequently asked questions

How many weeks should I use?

Use 52 to assume paid vacation (salary keeps coming while you're off). Use ~50 if you take two unpaid weeks, or fewer for seasonal work.

Is this before or after tax?

Before. It converts gross figures; your actual take-home is lower after income tax, FICA and any benefit deductions.

How do I convert a salary back to hourly?

Switch the mode to "Annual Salary → Hourly": the calculator divides the salary by your yearly hours (hours per week × weeks per year).
